The Fruit Trees Are Flowering!

  1. Jen - you would have to double check (and you may already know), but in talking to the farmers at work, they suggest not letting fruit trees produce fruit for the first time 'round (the tree's first season of fruit production). Our farmers pluck of the flowers that first season and, they say, it makes for better harvests in the future.

  2. Well, the pear and apple are well established. This wouldn't be their first year. And our plums might have had fruit last year, before we planted them. They are a few years old. Our cherries won't fruit this year, but the peach might.

That said, it is all just an excuse for I-don't-wanna! That may be excellent orchard management, but I am greedy. I want the fruit!
